    Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Dagon assumed command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Albuquerque District June 26, 2014, during a formal change of command ceremony at the District headquarters.
  • Corps Returns Land to Cochiti Pueblo

    In a ceremony during a Corps-Pueblo de Cochiti partnership meeting June 5, 2014, the Corps relinquished land acquired during the construction of Cochiti Dam, returning it to the Pueblo.

    District staff from several project offices participated in the Third Annual Trinidad Water Festival, where approximately 1,700 Las Animas County students and teachers turned out to learn about water’s importance and local and regional water issues.

    On April 24, 2014, the Regional Leadership Development Program (RLDP) students presented their final project to members of Regional Governance Board (R3) Conference at the Albuquerque District.
  • Water Managers Cooperate to Create Beneficial River Flows

    Flows on the Rio Grande from Albuquerque to Elephant Butte Reservoir will increase this week in a coordinated effort aimed at triggering a spawn of the endangered Rio Grande silvery minnow. This pioneering effort by federal and non-federal water managers will create conditions that haven’t naturally occurred over the last four years due to drought.
  • New Headquarters Tribal Liaison Visits District and Local Tribal Leaders

    Recently the District was honored to have the new Corps’ Senior Tribal Liaison, Lisa Morales, visit. While in the District, Morales and Dr. Ron Kneebone, Albuquerque District tribal liaison, met with representatives from five Native American Tribes within the District’s Area of Responsibility.
  • 125 Years of Systematic Streamgaging

    As part of 2014’s Earth Day events, the District joined the USGS in a celebration for the 125th anniversary of the Embudo streamgage which was constructed as part of a training site for hydrographers and hydrologists to support irrigation in the desert southwest.
