    Going Green: The Silvery Minnow, Drought and the Rio Grande

    As signs of spring begin to show in the bosque, environmentalists, biologists and others continue their efforts to understand river flow issues along the Middle Rio Grande. Of particular interest are endangered species in relation to water use and jurisdiction. Within the past three years, the drought has proven to be a constant challenge to create and maintain a balanced environment for the silvery minnow to continue to spawn. Due to the drought, the environment needed for natural spawning is not present.

    A formal ceremony was held at the University of New Mexico where the District entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with the University of New Mexico. Col. Nelson, Deputy Commander, South Pacific Division, participated in the ceremony.
  • USACE STEM professionals excel in Afghanistan

    Without the female USACE Transatlantic District North professionals, mission accomplishment would be sorely hampered. We could not as easily execute our construction projects, or provide necessary oversight of the Operations and Maintenance mission for ANSF facilities in support of United States Forces-Afghanistan and NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan without the talented women who first achieved success in the classroom in pursuit of STEM qualifications.
