    ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., -- Albuquerque District Park Ranger Bob Garcia, Cochiti Lake, shows a young swimmer how a personal flotation device (PFD) should fit properly at the National Get Outdoors Day held at Tingley Beach June 8, 2013. The PFD must be tight enough so it will not come off over a person’s shoulders while strapped together.

    Students ‘Discover Water’ in Pueblo, Colo.

    Corps employees from John Martin Reservoir presented water safety classes to elementary school students attending the annual Discovering Water in Pueblo event May 7, 2013, at the Colorado State University - Pueblo campus.

    Santa Rosa Students Ready for the Water

    Bob Mumford, a park ranger at the District’s Santa Rosa Dam, wrote and received a grant from ENMR, a local phone cooperative, to purchase and distribute lifejackets and Whistles for Life to all the students at the elementary school.

    New Dock to Enable Park Rangers to Respond on Lake Faster

    The District completed the installation of a fully enclosed service dock at Cochiti Lake March 2, allowing the project’s patrol boat to be on the water at all times. It is an improvement the park rangers believe will have significant public safety benefits.
