    For the 14th consecutive year, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Abiquiu Lake will be hosting a National Public Lands Day celebration on Saturday, September 24, 2016.
  • Midwinter Bald Eagle Watch at Abiquiu Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Abiquiu Lake will be hosting its annual Midwinter Eagle Watch on Saturday January 9, 2016, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. The event is open to the public. Volunteers will be meeting at the Abiquiu Lake project office and are asked to dress warmly and bring binoculars, notepads, and drinking water.
  • Army Corps of Engineers supports new “Every Kid in a Park” recreation initiative

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers joined the Federal Interagency Council on Outdoor Recreation for the start of a new initiative to give every child in the United States the chance to explore and learn about America’s great outdoors. The Every Kid in a Park initiative will provide all fourth grade students and their families with free admission for a full year to more than 2,000 federally-managed sites nationwide.

    For the 12th consecutive year, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Abiquiu Lake will host its National Public Lands Day celebration Saturday, September 27. Activities begin at 10:00 am at the Cerrito Boat Ramp parking lot, and end for lunch at 1:00 pm.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Abiquiu Lake, in partnership with the Espanola Wildlife Center, will host an Earth Day event Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 10:00 AM at the Visitor Center.
  • REWARD OF $55,000 OFFERED IN ABIQUIU LAKE SHOOTING

    On the morning of Dec. 1, 2007, Alfred J. Chavez, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Park Ranger, noticed someone had tampered with a lock and chain on the gate of a Corps-owned pump house near Abiquiu Lake. As Mr. Chavez investigated, two men left the pump house. One of the men pulled out a revolver and fired two shots at Mr. Chavez. One bullet whizzed by Mr. Chavez's head, but the other struck him just above the right knee. The men fled and have not been apprehended. Mr. Chavez survived.
