    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Albuquerque District has announced changes to lake operations in New Mexico and Colorado amid health concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic. USACE-Albuquerque District is taking measures throughout its lake offices to reduce risk to guests, volunteers and personnel.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Albuquerque District, announced today (Aug. 30, 2019) that effective immediately the Santa Cruz day-use area at Cochiti Lake is closed to swimming due to the presence of toxic blue-green algae in Cochiti Lake. The Cochiti Swim Beach remains closed.
  • Cochiti Lake swim beach closed due to blue-green algae

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Albuquerque District, announced today (Aug. 22, 2019) that effective immediately the Cochiti swim beach is closed due to the presence of a toxic blue-green algae bloom in the lake. Other recreation areas remain open, including the boat ramps and the campgrounds. The closure will last until levels no longer pose an increased threat to humans and animals.
  • Cochiti Lake swim beach open for 4th of July

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Albuquerque District, announced today that the swim beach at Cochiti Lake is open again after being closed due to a higher than normal spring runoff. The swim beach is scheduled to be open daily from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
  • Cochiti swim beach to reopen for Memorial Day weekend

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Albuquerque District, announced today that the swim beach at the lake will reopen for Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 25 to Monday, May 27, 2019, from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. The swim beach will then be closed Tuesday, May 28, 2019.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has announced that it will waive day use fees, normally charged at boat launch ramps, and swimming beaches, at its recreation areas, nationwide, in recognition of National Public Lands Day on Saturday, Sept. 22. The Albuquerque District has also announced events open to the public that will be held at four of its New Mexico lakes on National Public Lands Day.
