COCHITI LAKE, N.M. – The entire Tetilla Peak Recreation Area and Campground and the Santa Cruz Day Use Area, including the Santa Cruz Road, are closed to visitors during the 2023 recreation season due to a construction project funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

“The project is aimed at improving the sustainability of the area’s aging infrastructure and to provide visitors with an improved recreation experience,” said Jacob Pauley, chief, USACE-Albuquerque District Operations Division.

The Cochiti Campground and Recreation Area, including the swim beach and boat ramp, on the west side of the lake remain open for camping and day use activities including fishing and boating. The swim beach hours are 8:00 am to 6:00 pm daily and there is a $5 fee per vehicle. Charcoal is NOT allowed in the designated swim beach area.

There is a $5 fee for all motorized and trailered vessels using the boat ramp to launch. The fee can be paid onsite or online at www.recreation.gov. There is also a new fee machine which accepts payment. Please properly display the day-use slip or ticket on your vehicle.

For the 2023 recreation season, the Cochiti campground will be open March 1 through Nov. 30. Sites are only available by reservation which can be made online at: https://www.recreation.gov/
