Data

The URGWOM historical database is maintained in a single file that has the format of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Hydrologic Engineering Center Data Storage System (DSS).  A separate Hydrologic Database (HDB) is under development by U. S. Bureau of Reclamation and is currently being used for daily Accounting Model application runs.  Contact Reclamation for more details on the HDB database and the status of the associated DMIs used with the Accounting Model application. The following agencies contributed input data and supporting data for URGWOM development and application:

  • U.S. Geological Survey
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
  • U.S. Bureau of Reclamation
  • New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission
  • Office of the State Engineer
  • Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District
  • State of Colorado
  • U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

Data are imported into URGWOM using the RiverWare data management interface (DMI) set up for URGWOM. Data are organized by subject (e.g. crop evapotranspiration, reservoir data, inflows, etc.) Metadata files for each HEC-DSS file in the URGWOM database can be accessed through the links below. Metadata files include explanatory comments regarding the source for data and any modifications to data. Metadata files also include information about data organized by site, river reach, and subject category.

For completing planning runs, the database may be accessed by DMIs in URGWOM to import series inputs needed for rulebased simulations. The DSS database file contains all data back to 1975 needed to complete rulebased simulations using the historical hydrology or for modeling historical operations in regular simulation. In addition to all the required series inputs, values are included in the database as needed for initial conditions for model runs for historical operations.
