    USACE-Albuquerque District holds dam safety exercise for Abiquiu Dam

    The Albuquerque District held a Dam Safety Tabletop Exercise for Abiquiu Dam at the Abiquiu Rural Event Center in Abiquiu, N.M., May 7, 2026. The purpose of the exercise was to improve mutual awareness among Abiquiu Dam stakeholders of the roles and duties, communication needs, and coordination efforts necessary in the event of a dam emergency.

    Coronado science club tours Abiquiu Dam

    About a dozen students from the science and engineering club at Coronado High School and Middle School in Gallina, N.M., toured the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Abiquiu Dam, Oct. 3, 2019.

    ABIQUIU DAM, N.M., -- At the 50th anniversary of Abiquiu Dam, June 13, 2013, the Abiquiu Time Capsule, shaped in the form of a Corps castle, was sealed. It will be opened in 25 years at the dam's 75th Anniversary in 2038.

    New Turbine Increases Hydroelectric Power
