Some of Abiquiu Lake Recreation Area to close for the season

ABIQUIU, N.M. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Albuquerque District announced today that beginning April 1, 2025, the Swim Beach Section of the Cerrito Recreation Area at Abiquiu Lake will be closed. This closure will remain in effect until the recreation season ends on Oct.15, 2025. 

The closure includes the Swim Beach, the Paddle Craft Launch Area, and Group Shelters 4 and 5.

Visitors will be permitted to park at the top of the hill in the Corral to the right before the gate and walk down into the Recreation Area.

Day use fees of $5 per vehicle will still apply, and passes are available for purchase in the parking lot of the recreation area at the bottom of the hill in the Paddle Craft Ramp Parking lot and at the Boat Ramp.  

Parking outside of Group Shelter 2 is reserved for those with Group Shelter 2 passes only.

Restrooms will be available at the bottom of the hill at the Paddle Craft Ramp Parking lot. The restrooms at Group Shelters 2, 4, and 5 are for Group Shelter use only.
