City of El Paso Central Area Flood Risk Management Study Map
USACE-Albuquerque District, in partnership with El Paso Water, is studying ways to reduce flood risk and damages caused by flooding and debris in the central area of El Paso, Texas. The project is located in El Paso, Texas and is focused on roughly 12 square miles of the southeastern Franklin Mountains and the central area of the city of El Paso. Multiple arroyos on the southeast side of the Franklin Mountains contribute to the flooding issues observed in the Central area and south of I-10. Flood flows come off the mountains and generally move east then south, combining with urban flows to cross I-10 and pond in a relatively flat area between the interstate and the Rio Grande River, or enter the Rio Grande River.
