The Platoro Reservoir in the Rio Grande Basin. The project was authorized by Section 9 of the Reclamation Project Act of 1939 and construction was completed by the Bureau of Reclamation in 1951. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers retains authority over its operation for flood risk management. The title to the dam and reservoir remains with the U.S. government with the Conejos Water Conservancy District maintaining the operation and maintenance responsibility.
