Welcome to the US Army Corps of Engineers Jemez Canyon Dam Day Use Area

Jemez Canyon Dam and Reservoir controls floodwaters and retains sediment from Jemez Creek, one of the main drainages of the Jemez Mountains and a tributary of the Rio Grande.

There is an overlook facility and day use area at the end of the access road. All picnic shelters are covered and have raised grills.

The day use area is open year-round, dawn to dusk. Gates locked at dusk daily. Day use is restricted to the immediate developed area.

All land at Jemez Canyon Dam is owned by Santa Ana Pueblo. Trespassers outside the developed area are subject to Pueblo law.

Geocaching is permitted at Corps' projects only with approval of the project manager. Contact the Cochiti Lake Project Office for approval.

Area Weather: Current weather conditions for Bernalillo, N.M., and the Jemez Canyon Dam vicinity.
