Cochiti Lake and Tetilla Peak boat ramps to be temporarily closed to the public to aid wildfire suppression efforts

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers staff at Cochiti Lake announced June 25, 2026, that the Cochiti and Tetilla Peak boat ramps at Cochiti Lake will be temporarily closed effective at noon on June 25, 2026. Water from the lake will be collected by aircraft to aid in wildfire suppression efforts of the McCauley Springs Fire in the nearby Jemez Mountains.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers today announced that it will waive day use fees at its more than 2,800 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide in support of America’s 250th birthday celebration, July 3-5.
