Rio Rancho Fire Rescue to hold boat training at Cochiti Lake

USACE-Albuquerque District public affairs
Published March 5, 2026

COCHITI LAKE, N.M., – Rio Rancho Fire and Rescue (RRFR) will be conducting on-the-water boat training at the lake, March 11-13, 2026.

While much of the training involves slower maneuvers (such as docking, launching, trailer recovery, night operations, etc.), RRFR will also be conducting high speed maneuvers that will break the “no-wake” rule for Cochiti Lake.

High speed training maneuvers are essential for emergency responses on any lake and RRFR has an exception to the no-wake rule for training purposes during this timeframe and/or while responding to an on-water emergency.

Cochiti Lake remains a “no-wake” lake and the boating public is still required to drive at slow speeds so as not to cause wakes.

Any updates or changes will be posted on the Cochiti Lake Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/USACE.Cochiti.Lake/
