U.S. Army Corps of Engineers waives day use fees at recreation areas in observance of Army Corps of Engineers’ Birthday

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers today announced that it will waive day use fees at its more than 2,800 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide in observance of its birthday, June 16.

Bell Ranch Rd at Conchas Lake to close for bridge inspection May 12

The bridge and roadway on Bell Ranch Rd. at Conchas Lake, N.M., will be closed from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, May 12, 2026, due to a dam bridge inspection. There will be no public access via the road across the dam during this time.

Conchas Lake’s South Side Campground Transitions to Recreation.gov Website for all Campground Reservations Beginning April 15

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-managed South Side Campground at Conchas Lake, N.M., is transitioning from a “first-come, first-serve” basis to the use of www.recreation.gov for all campground reservations. This change does not apply to the N.M. State Parks-managed campgrounds at the lake.

Rio Rancho Fire Rescue to hold boat training at Cochiti Lake

Rio Rancho Fire and Rescue will be conducting on-the-water boat training at Cochiti Lake, N.M., March 11-13, 2026. While much of the training involves slower maneuvers, RRFR will also be conducting high speed maneuvers that will break the “no-wake” rule for Cochiti Lake.

USACE-Albuquerque District is revising the Santa Rosa Lake and Two River Dam Master Plans (MP). An MP is the strategic land use management document that guides the comprehensive management and development of all recreational, natural, and cultural resources throughout the life of the water resource development project. It defines "how" it will manage the resources for public use and resource conservation. The current MP for Santa Rosa Lake, last approved in 1977, needs revision to address changes in regional land use, population, outdoor recreation trends, and the USACE management policy.
