Data

A database with historical data used for URGWOM development and as needed to complete URGWOM runs is maintained in files having the format of the Corps’ Hydrologic Engineering Center Data Storage System (HEC-DSS). The following agencies contributed input data and supporting data for URGWOM development and application:

  • U.S. Geological Survey
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
  • U.S. Bureau of Reclamation
  • New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission and Office of State Engineer
  • Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District
  • State of Colorado
  • U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

Data are imported into URGWOM using the RiverWare data management interface (DMI) set up for URGWOM. Data are organized by subject (e.g. crop evapotranspiration, reservoir data, inflows, etc.) Metadata files for each HEC-DSS file in the URGWOM database can be accessed through the links below. Metadata files include explanatory comments regarding the source for data and any modifications to data. Metadata files also include information about data organized by site, river reach, and subject category.

Contact one of the URGWOM Technical Team representatives listed on the Continued Development page for more information or details about data in the URGWOM database.

Planning studies are completed with synthetic hydrologic sequences developed with historical data that better represent hydrologic variability evident from paleo-data (Refer to the Recent Activities page for more information on the synthetic hydrologic sequences). Historical data are also referenced when using the Water Operations Model to forecast operations and conditions through a calendar year.
