Galisteo Dam is one unit of a comprehensive plan for flood and sediment control in the Rio Grande Basin.
Galisteo Dam is an earthen structure, authorized solely for flood and sediment control. The reservoir contains water only during flood flows and empties as soon as the water can flow through the dam's uncontrolled outlet works.
Galisteo overlook is temporarily closed to visitation due to renovation. Please do not enter.
All land at Galisteo Dam is owned by Kewa Pueblo. Trespassers outside the developed area at the overlook are subject to pueblo law.
