    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers: A Brief History

    George Washington appointed the first engineer officers of the Army on June 16, 1775, during the American Revolution, and engineers have served in combat in all subsequent American wars. The Army established the Corps of Engineers as a separate, permanent branch on March 16, 1802, and gave the engineers responsibility for founding and operating the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

    District Security Officer Receives Two Awards for Antiterrorism Work

    Master Sgt. Bernie Lujan received the 2012 U.S. Army Antiterrorism Honor Roll Award March 26, 2013, at the District’s Headquarters in Albuquerque, N.M. Lujan also received the 2012 USACE Meritorious Antiterrorism Honor Roll Award in the same ceremony.

    Albuquerque Team “Reaches Back” to Afghanistan

    Acting Army Chief of Engineers Maj. Gen. Merdith “Bo” Temple promoted South Pacific Division Commander Col. Michael C. Wehr to the rank of Brigadier General March 15 in a ceremony at the San Francisco War Memorial Veterans Building.
