U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Cochiti Lake Campground Announces Winter Closure Dates

Published Oct. 20, 2015

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The US Army Corps of Engineers, Albuquerque District’s Cochiti Lake Project is announcing the annual seasonal closure of the Cochiti Project Campground, effective Nov. 1, 2015. Campers who are in the campground overnight on Oct. 31 will not have to vacate their campsites until the regular checkout time of 2:00 PM on Nov. 1. The entire Cochiti Campground will be closed to all overnight camping and day use activities from Nov. 1, 2015 through Feb. 28, 2016. In subsequent years, this annual closure will be in effect from Dec. 1 through the end of February.

This year’s closure will be a month earlier in order to initiate and complete several major internal campground paving projects in preparation for the 2016 recreation season. We apologize for any inconvenience that this closure may cause. When these efforts are completed, we will have improved facilities ready and available to welcome you during the 2016 recreation season beginning on March 1, 2016. Campers are also reminded that the entire Tetilla Recreation Area and campground closes Oct. 15 and re-opens the following April 15 every year.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Cochiti Lake Project Office at 505-465-0307.
