Lieutenant Colonel Jerre Hansbrough assumed command of the Albuquerque District on July 7, 2022.

Headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the district serves more than 200,000 square miles of the Southwestern USA providing comprehensive engineering, construction, regulatory, environmental, and emergency response support. The district includes nine USACE dams, four major military installations, and nearly 200 miles of the Rio Grande.

Prior to this assignment, Lt. Col. Hansbrough was the Theater Exercises Branch Chief at U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii. Before that, he served as an Army Fellow at the Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies, Honolulu, HI, with emphasis on global infrastructure development.

Lt. Col. Hansbrough is from Canton, Ohio. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry and Life Science and commissioned into the Corps of Engineers. He earned a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Hawai‘i.

His other assignments include Sapper Platoon Leader, Light Equipment Platoon Leader (Rough Terrain), and Battalion Construction Officer in the 27th Engineer Battalion (Combat)(Airborne), Fort Bragg, North Carolina. While assigned as a platoon leader, he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He later served in the 84th Engineer Battalion, Schofield Barracks, Hawai‘i as the Battalion Battle Captain then Company Commander of the 643rd Vertical Construction Engineer Company. During these assignments, Lt. Col. Hansbrough deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and multiple exercises across the Pacific. As the Division Engineer Operations Officer in the 25th Infantry Division, he deployed in support of Operation New Dawn. Upon his return to Schofield Barracks, he served as the 25th ID Facilities Engineer. He served as the Battalion Executive Officer for the 554th Engineer Battalion and then the 31st Engineer Battalion at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.

His previous USACE assignments include Deputy Area Engineer for the Schofield Barracks Resident Office in the Honolulu District, Project Engineer at the Kanagawa Resident Office in the Japan District, and Deputy District Commander for the Japan District.

He completed the Defense Strategy Course, Command and General Staff College Course, Engineer Captain’s Career Course, and Engineer Officer Basic Course. He is Joint Service qualified and a registered professional engineer in the State of Hawai‘i.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (3), Joint Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3), Army Achievement Medal (2), Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2 CS), Iraq Campaign Medal (3 CS), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, NATO Medal, and the Bronze Order of the de Fleury Medal. He earned the Parachutist Badge, the German Proficiency Badge, and is Rough Terrain qualified.

Lt. Col. Hansbrough married Slavica Terzic, of Serbia, in 2005.
